Vietnam's Viettel Set to Test LTE in 2 Cities, Boosts 3G Coverage

Vietnam's military-run telecoms operator Viettel is set to launch testing of LTE technology in parts of Hanoi and HCM City. According to Vietnam Business News, which cites a report by Vietbiz24, around 240 customers in the two cities will soon be able to trial the 4G service until the end of August. Viettel's director, Hoang Son, said the trials will help the company assess the network's capabilities, although he did not mention when an official launch of LTE would take place. MORE

208 Operators in 80 Countries Currently Investing in LTE

A recent report by Global Mobile Suppliers Association has revealed that around 208 operators are now investing in LTE, which is 98 operators more than in June 2010. According to the report, the number of countries and territories where LTE systems are deployed or planned has increased by 32 in the same period. MORE
