WCAI's Wireless Policy Summit

Reforming Spectrum Management: What's Next?
Although much has been done to reform spectrum policy in recent years, spectrum reform is an ongoing process. Efforts to make more commercial spectrum available for mobile use and to create incentives for more efficient use of federal spectrum are currently ongoing. The inherently shared, nomadic nature of wireless broadband networks poses unique network management challenges. What network management practices are reasonable for wireless broadband networks? How should net neutrality principals be applied to these networks? Should reasonable network management standards for wireless broadband networks differ from wired networks? WCAI Financial Committee Meeting to Focus on Broadband Stimulus Application Process
Application process WCAI members need to go through to obtain the $7.2 billion in government funding allocated as part of the economic stimulus plan will be the main topic examined during a May 6 meeting of the WCAI’s Broadband Financial Committee. The meeting will be held as part of the Wireless Policy Summit organized by the WCAI on May 5-6 in Washington, DC. WCAI President Fred Campbell and Regulatory Counsel Paul Sinderbrand will explain the steps members need to take to apply for the funding and answer member questions. Also, RBC Daniels Vice President Kevin Reidy will provide the investor’s perspective and tips on how WCAI members can be most successful in securing the funding. A member of the WCAI’s Broadband Financial Committee, Mr. Reidy provides corporate finance and financial advisory services to clients of the RBC Daniels’ Telecommunications Group with a concentration on companies in the mobile and broadband wireless sectors. Since joining Daniels & Associates in 1998, he has led or facilitated more than 70 transactions with an aggregate deal value of over $3 billion in almost every major sector of the telecommunications industry. He is intimately familiar with Wi-Fi and WiMAX business models and has worked with providers and investors who target the residential, commercial and/or hospitality verticals.
